The Southwest Kansas Pro-Am has become a favorite event for golf professionals, amateur players and community members. With almost a week's worth of events, there is something for everyone! The 39th Annual Southwest Kansas Pro-Am will be held August 9-12, 2018.
The Southwest Kansas Pro-Am is the longest running professional golf tournament in the State of Kansas. The Southwest Kansas Pro-Am began in 1979 as a traveling tournament. Each year it was held at Dodge City, Liberal, or Garden City, Kansas until it was decided the two beautiful renowned golf courses in Garden City should be the permanent home of the Pro-Am.
Since its inception, all proceeds from the Southwest Kansas Pro-Am benefit the Stephen Meyers Newborn Intensive Care Unit at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS. The Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is designed to help infants that need a little extra attention to give them the best possible start in life. With the NICU being right here in Garden City, KS, families and loved ones do not have to travel long distances and stay for extended periods of time far away from home. The NICU at St. Catherine Hospital is a Level II, 7 bed unit with state of the art monitoring and treatment equipment. The unit admits approximately 100 critical care infants per year to receive specialized care from a team of highly trained caregivers. The Newborn Intensive Care Unit at St. Catherine Hospital is the local center for critical infant care in southwest Kansas.
Elizabeth Andrew said "Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart." This year's Southwest Kansas Pro-Am Hall of Fame Recipient, Kathy Koster has both a passion for the NICU and has shown dedication to the Pro-Am as a sponsor and volunteer for many years.
All proceeds benefit the NICU at St. Catherine Hospital to help the smallest most vulnerable patients in southwest Kansas.
